Today was an interesting day. At 10:00 AM I had a meeting with two of the missionaries from the International House of Prayer in Kansas City, Zach Van Buren and his wife, Brandi. They are a wonderful couple just beginning their ministry, and it was nice to catch up with them. It wasn't long after we got together that the storms began to come (literally).
The testimony we have comes from what took place today in West Monroe. As we were meeting, heavy downpours of rain began to fall and tornadoes touched down in various parts of the Twin Cities (Monroe and West Monroe). For those of you who do not know where West Monroe is in Louisiana, it is the home of Duck Commander and the Robertsons (an easily recognizable landmark these days) located in the northeastern part of the state.
The Van Burens and I, along with my wife, met at the Corner Coffeehouse in West Monroe. One of the first tornadoes touched down nearby. As we were sitting in the coffeehouse, the building shook, the ceiling tiles started to fall down, insulation was all on the floor and we decided with others to go into the restroom and we began praying in the name of Jesus that the storm would quiet and that we would be safe from the dangers of the winds, debris and rain. As we were praying, we heard the storm lessen and it didn't hit us in our small little meeting spot by the Interstate. The same God that quieted the storms of the New Testament quieted the storms heading straight for us today. The tornado veered off to the other side of the interstate away from us which we were originally in it's path. I provided a graphic below to show you where we were and where some of the storm damage that we provided pictures of occurred.

God's love, power and protection are there for us when we need Him and call upon Him. I can tell you, it was a scary moment to be in that building, and the only thing we had was God alone. We spoke in faith and believed that He would protect us, and He did. As soon as we agreed in prayer that storm halted from hitting us, and while the city has suffered in many locations we thank God we were safe.
It will take time to clean up, and the church's TV station took a great deal of damage (see pictures below), but we were very thankful that God is a God who answers prayers and protects His people. Be encouraged today, that even in the darkest hour, God hears your cry! God bless everyone!
