More than just a name
Lately my heart has been really burdened. I've been in a state of "ugh". Its a familiar state, I know everyone's been there. If you say you haven't, you're a liar, but we'll repent of that later. (lol).
So, today and for the next few devotionals I'm going to speak whats on my heart. This will be me just pouring out. I have found that its at our greatest times of weakness, brokenness and emptiness that God shows up the most. Does that mean He is absent the other times?
One thing, in my life, and I'm sure other Christian's lives, is that we just see God as "God". He is this "person" (we assume person) who we go to church for, whom we sing songs to and who we will eventually see one day. What we lack is not only the revelation, but the action participation in an active relationship with a REAL God.

Too often, we dismiss the notion that God is and wants to be active in our lives. "I'm not worth God's attention" or maybe you're the "I don't think God wants to do that" or my favorite "God doesn't have time". There are so many other reasons why, I'm just scratching the surface, but what we as HIS PEOPLE have got to start realizing is that there is so much more for us!
Here's proof:
Leviticus 26:12 "I will walk among you and be your God, and you shall be My people"
Leviticus 26:12 "I will walk among you and be your God, and you shall be My people"
1 John 3:1 "Wee what kind of love the Father has given to us, that we should be called children of God, and so we are."
Psalms 54:4 "Surely God is my help; the Lord is the one who sustains me."
1 Corinthians 1:9 "God, who has called you into fellowship with his Son Jesus Christ our Lord, is faithful."
1 John 4:16 "And so we know and rely on the love God has for us. God is love. Whoever lives in love lives in God, and God in him."
And that is just barely listening the plethora of Scriptures God has given us. He wants us. We get so tied up in our "lives" that we forget to truly live for the one who breathed life into us. See we are called to "know" God. We aren't just slaves obeying our masters and fearing their punishments. We are children, joint heirs and what God craves. He wants you. So, how do we get to know Him?
Simple. Like you would do any relationship. 1.) Spend time together 2.) talk about everything 3.) love one another.
God says He desires all those things for us, we just have to reciprocate. Then we will truly know the God who raises the dead, heals the sick, feeds the hungry and
