Why? That is one of the biggest questions on the minds of those who don't attend church. Why do we go? Why is it so important to us? Why do we proclaim this Jesus as our God?
Well, really there isn't one specific answer is there? I posed this question because today at church I had one of those "reminders" that God likes to send. Today I got to witness the active power of God. There were healings (legitimate healings), a tangible presence of God and a complete move of His works.
I can't tell you how many times I've been caught up in the everyday life. I'm not talking about being backslidden and not serving God, I simply mean that sometimes that impact of the real truth of what and who God is slips by us.
See, Hebrews 4:12 says "For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and of spirit, of joints and of marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart."
The Word is alive! See John 1:1-5 tells us that Jesus, the living Word of God, was not only around before the creation of the Earth, but that in the word was life. So, not only are we given the Word of God to be a testament to what God has done, but according to Hebrews 4 it is an active and current word for our lives.
The Greek word for sharper is "tomoteros". Not only does it mean to cut, but specifically it means to fell in a single stroke. It penetrates deep, its more keen. Here God is saying not only have I given you the authority to live life, but I've given you the power to live it to an even fuller extent. Need proof? Here is something that will just make you shout for Jesus.
John 10:10 Christ is saying that He comes so that you might have life more abundantly. But, what exactly is that life? Well the very SAME word used for life in John 10 is the one used for life in John 1:4. You are promised to not only have Christ, in all his love, blessings and entirety, but you're promised to have Him abundantly in your life!
I got to have Him abundantly today, and I pray that these days that the revelation comes it sticks. I want to enjoy this all the time. God bless, love you guys/gals!
